    openEuler FAQ

Answers to the most common questions, with facts taken from the official download page and homepage.

The official homepage describes openEuler as an open-source OS incubated by the OpenAtom Foundation for digital infrastructure in server, cloud, edge and embedded scenarios. ISOs, repositories and sources are published free; commercial support comes from distributions built on openEuler or from service providers.

There is no compatibility promise: openEuler carries its own kernel branch and a full package build system, keeping the RPM/DNF operating habits. Teams looking for a binary-compatible RHEL replacement should evaluate AlmaLinux or Rocky instead. A cross-distro comparison lives on the hub’s openEuler topic page.

The official download page splits community releases into an LTS line and an innovation line — production follows an LTS through its SP updates, early adopters ride the innovation line. Current entries and planned end dates: Versions and lifecycle.

Officially declared architectures include x86, AArch/Arm and RISC-V; media is published per architecture — see Download and verify.
